Ersin Gök

Ersin Gök is the first speaker in this presentation, followed by Tuba Şehitoğlu. He graduated from Dokuz Eylul University, and holds a MA in photography from Marmara University. He focuses on short films, feature films, documentaries, and commercials. His first feature film “Mustang” was nominated for the Academy Awards. He is a co-founder of Yuva project, an initiative created by 250 - 300 volunteers from the architecture and film industries which built 100 tiny homes in response to Turkey’s devastating 2023 earthquakes. The group continues to provide solutions in the built environment in the earthquake region. The homes are wooden and modular and designed for a mid-term living environment. Professionals in the film industry used their rapid “set setup” and production skills to build at a fast pace and crowdsourced funding from local celebrities and the public. They started the assembly process in Istanbul, and sent the completed homes to the region in coordination with the Ministry of Interior Disaster and Emergency Management Authority.
